Most Unwanted: April Edition Item: Meal Kit Boxes 🍋🍽️Welcome to this month's edition of Most Unwanted! This time, we're highlighting meal kit delivery boxes—specifically the ones with insulating materials attached. While meal kits make dinner a breeze, the insulating materials used to keep your food fresh are often not recyclable. Here’s why:🔶 Styrofoam & Mixed Materials: Many meal kits use styrofoam or plastic-based insulators, which are not accepted in curbside recycling programs because they’re difficult to process and break down. They also contain chemicals that can contaminate recycling streams.🔶 Non-Recyclable Coatings: Some boxes are lined with foil or coated in wax, which makes it nearly impossible to separate these materials for recycling.✨ What You Can Do:Check the Materials: If it contains Styrofoam or a mix of recyclable materials, it can’t go in your blue bin. Consider Alternatives: Explore companies using more sustainable packaging, or get creative by reusing the materials in other ways!Let’s work together to tackle packaging waste and recycle smarter! 🌱💚Have any recycling questions or need assistance?
